2nd May 2001 - Gold Valley Web Site
Launched After a couple of false dawns, the Gold Valley site is now up and running. I think that you'll find that it's been worth the wait. They're promising to post all of the match results, together with dates of future matches, plus loads of pictures for both the match angler and the carp fisherman. Here's the link to the new site. * * * 5th June 2000 - New fishery rules have been introduced as follows :
The major differences on the new rules is a huge relaxation on allowed groundbaits, plus a slight change in hookbaits that allows meat in club matches, plus a huge range of weird and wonderful baits such as prawns, cockles, slugs and of course the carp anglers best friend the boilie, although I don't know of any club that allows boilies in matches !!. * * * 10th July 2000 - Night fishing, boilies, hair rigs......what is the world coming to ?? In another change of direction at this famous fishery, Gold Lake will now host less matches to allow carp fishermen to fish the canal bank during both day and night sessions. Boilies, hair rigs et al are all allowed. Speaking to John Raison the other day, he was saying that the current plan is to convert Middle Lake into the premier match lake, and that substantial numbers of fish will be stocked into the lake this winter. John even hinted that the long standing ban on sweetcorn could be lifted in the not too distant future. Full details and prices on carp fishing from the fishery on 01252-336333. * * * I just couldn't take off this this picture of a VERY young William Raison. It just shows, he could probably catch carp whilst he was still in nappies !.
