Old Bury Hill Main Lake
The Front Bank (Pegs 1 - 25)
This is the bank that
is parallel to the entrance road. Peg 1 is at the far end of this bank, just
before the start of the 'Jungle' that can only be fished from a boat. These
low numbered pegs are very shallow,
needing a reasonable cast with a waggler to reach a decent depth of water. It's
possible to hook carp and tench in and around the bushes to the left of peg
1, but landing them is a different matter entirely. Best pegs on this bank are
1 - 5 and 13 - 20.
The Long Bank
(Pegs 26 - 52)
This is the right hand bank as you enter the fishery. The best pegs are the
ones with open water in front of them in the 30's (some of the higher number
pegs in the 30's are very narrow channels between lily pads, one or two of them
are completely closed in by the pads).
The Wimbledon Bank (Pegs 53 - 75)
This is the far bank of the main lake. It's not very popular with the anglers,
probably because of the walk involved, but the last five pegs (71 - 75) are
pretty good for bream and skimmers, and are worth the walk when most of the
better pegs on the front and long banks have been taken. Incidentally, it is
along this bank that Dave deVere has installed a brand new aeration system,
and during the hottest parts of the summer months you will ofthen find the shoals
congregated around the three outfalls that are along this bank.
Milton Lake
The best pegs on this lake seem to be the the bank nearest to the
track, and the first few pegs on either of the side banks joining on to the
end bank previously mentioned. Sorry, I can't remember
the actual peg numbers.
Bonds Lake
Although I haven't fished this lake a great deal, the consistent
pegs seem to be 16 to 20 and 1 to 4, which are all around the first corner that
you come to when you walk down to the lake from the fishery entrance.
