10th July 2000 - New match record
Grant Albutt, the winner of the £10,000 Ultimate League
final at Moorlands Farm recently, came down South to fish a KC evening match
on Bonds Lake. Drawn on peg 4, he proceeded to catch over 150 lbs of carp in
a match that lasted exactly 2 hours and 50 minutes !!. Mark Hathway, pegged
on the next peg (in all fairness, an inferior peg), weighed in about 100 lbs
less, and described Grant's performance as awesome. Grant was feeding with a
catapult three times between hooking and landing his carp on the pole. As someone
who can't catapult bait whilst holding a pole (I put it down to being left handed
!!), I have total respect for the man, and sincerely hope that he's gone back
where he came from, I certainly don't look forward to him turning up on any
of the matches that I fish.

13th July 2000 - 11lb Zander caught in match
Bob Clampitt, prominent member of the Banstead Match Team, turned
his hand to specimen hunting when he landed this 11 lb 3 oz zander during a
match on the front bank of the main lake. Judging by the remarks such as "look
at those teeth" and "I'm not unhooking that", I suspect that
Bob isn't going into predator fishing in a big way.
